Testimonials

Rev. Dr. Susan Kennedy.

I would like to offer this testimonial for you to place on your website for all who read about what a beautiful ceremony you perform, not to mention what a wonderful person you are.

Reverend Susan,

For us, having a meaningful ceremony was the most important part of our wedding day. When I read the first draft of the ceremony, tears kept filling my eyes. It was hard to get through it all because it struck such depth in me. It was magically so "us"!

Additional ceremonies I perform:

Cross-Cultural Weddings: These are so much fun! So many times, couples are not even aware of all the cultural beliefs they have in common--so I especially enjoy letting you know! And incorporating different cultural traditions into one ceremony, honoring all, is one of my favorite challenges. Ask me about recently combining the Hindu scarves tradition with Handfasting!

Interracial Weddings, Same Sex Ceremonies: I know there are still people--& ministers—who make a fuss over this. I want to do everything possible to help you celebrate you love!

Second Marriages: There is a great blessing in working with individuals who know not only what they want, but what they don’t!

Combining Your Families: I strongly believe that children of all ages, but especially those under 25, should be included in wedding ceremonies whenever possible, so that they feel they are part of the marriage decision & that the marriage is not something that is “just happening to them”.

Renewal of Vows & Anniversary Celebrations: Finding out what drew you to each other in the first place, when you were originally married, is intriguing. Asking how each of those qualities has changed—some deepen, some become unimportant, some are brand new or recent…that really shows how a couple has grown. I love finding that out & sharing the information with your guests, who always appreciate so much knowing why you are still so deeply in love that you’d marry each other all over again!

Baby Naming & Blessings: I usually create ceremonies that welcome babies into the world, & celebrate how seeing the world through a baby’s eyes gives adults a whole new appreciation for infants’ & toddlers’ daily discoveries. I’m also educated & permitted to perform Baptisms.

Home Blessings & Clearings: Mary Thunder, #2 person in the Cherokee Nation, trained me in these rituals. They absolutely do change the entire energy in a home.

Include Pets in the Ceremony: Flower dogs, bark men, formal clothing made for pets…if your doggie is your child, let’s talk about a way he or she can be included! This takes nothing away from the sanctity of your ceremony; you’re just including more of those you truly love!

Funerals: I see my role as facilitating the Celebration of your Loved One’s Life. I write ceremonies that include happy stories, wonderful accomplishments, simple joys…& invite everyone present to add to the way you want your Loved One to be remembered.
