Let’s Get Married in North Carolina!
I’ve travelled all over the US, usually for long enough periods that I could tell if I ever wanted to live in that state…&, in 1994, I chose to live in North Carolina. (Well, my husband chose, too, & our sons, then 7, kinda didn’t have much say about the move but, once we got here, they sure loved being able to play outdoors virtually every day of the year!).
North Carolina is ideally defined by the over-used but utterly-appropriate term “breath-taking” Blue Ridge Mountains to the west. A few hours’ drive east, you have hundreds of miles of beachfront on which to lay down your towel, throw sticks for your dog…or you can venture even further east, to the Outer Banks, & watch some of the last wild horses in America enjoy the life for which they were intended.
The Arts Community throughout the State is amazing--&, for someone who came here from the northeast & thought nobody could compete with that Scene, boy, was I wrong! From the most sophisticated interpretations, to primitive goods that make you feel every stitch of the needle or every push of the lathe, to the broadest range of theater & music one could imagine…it’s all here. And, even after all these years, it surprises & delights me every single day. And the range of cuisine—do not get me started!
Whether you’re looking for the utmost in elegance or want your wedding gown trailing in the water—you literally could not choose a more wonderful State!
The Triad: The Heart of the State of Matrimony
Maybe the first quality that’s great about the Triad as a wedding site is that it’s so easy for your guests to get here. We’re right in the middle of the State, we have a terrific airport & easy access to two other major ones within an hour & a half, & our highways are exceptional (especially when the center strips are overflowing with stunning, multi-colored flowers!).
The range of places to stay includes the only hotel in the country that’s Platinum-rated for its “green” design (not to mention its elegance, sophistication & dedication to fine service), to the most charming, rustic bed & breakfast inns you’ll find anywhere in the U.S. (homemade biscuits & gravy at breakfast are just the beginning!).
Of course, this is where I have to say that the Triad is where you’ll find an InterFaith Minister who was ordained by a true brick-&-mortar seminary & also has a PhD in Counseling. The InterFaith Minister who has studied virtually every religion and belief system from around the world, & is experienced in creating & performing ceremonies for couples of the same faith, different faiths, different races, different cultures, same sex, or whatever your hearts desire. Second marriages, Vow Renewals—if it involves True Love, I’m the one to call! I’m the minister who’ll spend as much time with you as you need, to tell your love story & express what you do & don’t want included in your completely-custom-written, one-of-a-kind ceremony. And who’ll listen to what you love, & then recommend the inclusion of relevant wedding traditions you might never have heard of before. When you’re ordained by a Seminary that’s affiliated with the United Nations, you learn amazing wedding traditions from all over the world--&, whatever it is you love to do, & whoever you are, there will be a plethora of traditions from which to choose that seem as though they were custom-made for you, & which will go even further to make your wedding completely & uniquely yours!
Our wide range of caterers reflect our wide range of tastes. Throughout the State, but especially strong in the Triad, Triangle & Asheville, the use of organic foods is a “given”. And, after your wedding, with your permission, leftovers are given to food banks & other places that feed the hungry & homeless. I think that’s incredibly special, & am proud to be part of that movement to encourage “green” weddings that are also delicious, juicy & bursting with color as well as flavor.
Our photographers are amazing. Whatever style you want used to capture your rehearsal dinner, Wedding, reception…we boast photographers with some of the best eyes, and the greatest hearts, you could ever hope to find!
The Triad is home to the gamut of musicians, from bagpipers to soloists to orchestras to bluegrass bands, & we also offer djs who understand that their broad range of musical knowledge can help set the tone of your reception, but that they’re not there to overwhelm it.
Florists & site decorators are on a par with the best in New York & LA—but with North Carolina prices! And, of course, all the other accoutrements are here, too: limousines or vintage cars to horse-&-buggy-rides, dove & butterfly releases, handmade unique gifts, one-of-a-kind cake toppers (oh, my, do we have talented bakers!), stationers for your invitations to your thank-you cards, & the program-copy fans with which your guests can keep themselves cool. We also are home to some of the most detail-oriented, gracious & fun Wedding Planners & Directors—something I, personally, consider pretty much essential for any wedding larger than 25 guests…
The Triad is the Heart of North Carolina, & is the most delightful place to hold the day that will remain forever blessed in your heart!
Greensboro, the Gate City, opens its doors wide for you!
We’re the heart that beats at the center of the Triad, & everything you just read that describes the Triad in general is especially true of Greensboro. Maybe I’m a bit biased because this has been my home for so long, but I promise you’ll love it! And ministers aren’t allowed to make promises we can’t keep! (well, we’re not supposed to… but I, personally, make only promises on which I can comfortably pinky-swear!).
