Testimonials

Rev. Dr. Susan Kennedy.

I would like to offer this testimonial for you to place on your website for all who read about what a beautiful ceremony you perform, not to mention what a wonderful person you are.

Planning your wedding is incredibly important. We’ll meet beforehand to make sure it’s everything you want, nothing you don’t want, & that you enjoy the heck out of your own wedding day! We’ll meet for about two hours--to get to know each other, & to decide, together, exactly what you want your wedding ceremony to say, feel like & include. Our meeting will be relaxed, fun, no stress—something you can actually look forward to!

Tone: You might prefer a tone that’s spiritual, fun, romantic, funny, religious—or the combination of those tones that best suits you. I write your ceremony in the tone that you choose. Your ceremony will reflect what qualities about you, as individuals & as a couple, that you want to celebrate with your guests!

What we’ll chat about: When we meet, I’ll ask your input to help create the tone & content that reflects who you are. I’ll ask, for example, how did you go from being strangers to meeting for the first time, why did you decide to go on that first date, how & when you became a couple, who first used “the L word”, & of course your proposal story! This is sooo much fun—for all three of us!

Talking about wedding traditions in our meetings

As I get to know what you’re like & what you like to do, I’ll recommend a variety of wedding traditions from around the world that really speak to who you are. You then choose which two or three you like best, & I include those in our ceremony.

I also take into account the length of each tradition, so that your ceremony stays at about 25 minutes long. Different traditions take varying amounts of time, so I’ll tell you if the traditions you’ve chosen fall within that 25 minute timeframe so you can modify accordingly, if you like.

Many of these traditions include just the two of you. Others are designed to include & honor grandparents, parents, other family members &/or wedding guests. Others are designed to include children either or both of you may have—so that, regardless of their ages, your child/children feel part of this wedding rather than that your marriage is something that “happened to them”.

Please choose traditions that resonate with you, not just because they’re from your specific ethnic heritage. You love the beach? You love to cook? Travel? With my InterFaith background, whatever you are “about”, I’ll offer traditions that are perfectly suited to you! Of course, your own heritage is a fine source, too—it’s your choice! Then, when I perform your wedding, it will be exactly what you've always dreamed about. Or even exceeds how personal you thought your wedding could ever be!

You also always get final “script approval”—the only surprises you should have on your wedding day are good ones!
